They dull the pain, release our inhibitions, provide brief reprieve from difficulties … then pull some of us down into a dwindling spiral. And along with ups and downs in our lives they provide ample fodder for drama in our entertainment.

At their best, movies on addiction give us insight into our flaws and blind spots … and appreciation for our strengths and abilities to change.  Information alone rarely triggers change, but truth delivered with emotional impact has turned many a life around.
